General Rules

Title

The society shall be known as the HURST GREEN GARDENING CLUB

Objects

To encourage everyone to grow more food and to improve and beautify their gardens and allotments.  To arrange lectures and shows to further knowledge in horticulture.

Subscriptions

These shall be paid to the Society's Treasurer and shall be due at the January meeting of each year.  Every paid-up member shall receive a copy of the Show schedule.  The present minimum subscription shall be £8.00 per annum.  New members (i.e. those who were not members in the previous year) shall pay half the present subscription if they are joining after June 1st of the current year.

Management

  1. The Management shall consist of the following officers:  The President, Chair, Hon. Secretary, Hon. Show Secretary, Programme Secretary and up to six other members.  Life membership is restricted to three long-serving and loyal members.
  2. The Committee shall have the power to co-opt other members if they deem it necessary
  3. The President, all officers and members of the Committee shall retire annually but shall be eligible for re-election at the Annual General Meeting.
  4. The Treasurer shall prepare and present an audited balance sheet to the Annual General Meeting covering his or her terms of office.
  5. The Secretary shall be responsible for all correspondence connected with the Society and shall attend all meetings ensuring that a true record of the minutes will be kept.
  6. The Committee shall meet not less than four times in one year
  7. The Committee shall arrange any Shows and schedules, and have the power to deal with matters arising therefrom.

Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting shall be held as early in November as is practicable

Alterations to Rules

These Rules shall not be altered, added to, or amended, except at the Annual General Meeting, when 14 days' notice must be given to the Secretary in writing by the member or members proposing such alterations or amendments

Closure of the Society

In the event of the Society closing, all assets shall be divided between local charities to be decided by all remaining members.
